With an area nearly double that France's one, Namibia has one of the lowest population densities with less than two millions inhabitants. Its dry climate forcing wildlife to concentrate near the few water points.
Botswana, although its currency, the pula means "rain" is a very dry country too, with most of its territory covered by the Kalahari Desert. But every year, in the north, water comes from the highlands of Angola into the Kalahari desert to create, just for some weeks, the largest inland delta in the world, with flora and fauna of the most fascinating of our planet.
Our journey leads us through the big spaces of Namibia, to the spectacular Victoria Falls, through the swamps exciting life of the Okawango Delta!
Each year the Okavango River, swollen by water from heights of Angola, brings life to the north of the Kalahari Desert. This impressive river will never see the beaches of the ocean, it disappears, simply evaporated in the sun and swallowed by the desert sands. But before being defeated, he will expand and form countless islets, mazes of creeks, canals... creating a lush landscape where you will find abundance of animals and birds.
We'll visit this ephemeral paradise both by foot and by traditional boats (the mokoros). It is an experience radically different from the Etosha Park. You will apreciate the calm that prevails at the rate of strokes, listening to the cry of the fish eagle, the song of birds, the lapping of crocodiles returning to their shelter under the water... we will see the intense life that exists here... Guided by local trackers, we'll leave in search of elephants that feed along the shoreline, or on the islets, giraffes, antelope, and predators.
